Although they are wallowing near the bottom of the Western Conference, the Calgary Flames is full of confidence after easily beating the champions of the defending Stanley Cup.

The starting point, that victory will not be easy, but when the Flames open a road trip this season to five games Sunday against the West leading the Detroit Red Wings.

Calgary (8-10-0) missed the playoffs last season for the first time since 2002-03 and has the second fewest points in the conference, but the team took a big step in turning around its season with Friday's 7-2 victory over Chicago.

Jarome Iginla notched a hat track to double his tally of goals and David Moss added a goal and two assists for the Flames, who posted their highest scoring game since a 7-5 victory against Phoenix February 14, 2009.

Calgary needs a win to restore confidence after entering the game on Friday after losing three straight and seven of eight. One of those defeats was a 2-1 loss at home to Detroit on Nov. 3.
